Delhi's Fight Against Corruption: LG Saxena to Launch Faceless Complaint System
An anti-corruption portal, aimed at maintaining complainants' secrecy and ensuring zero tolerance towards corruption, is set to be launched by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena. This initiative is a part of the Delhi government's efforts to combat corruption.
In a significant move to combat corruption, Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena is set to launch an anti-corruption portal for the Delhi government. The portal, scheduled for unveiling next week, will act as a platform for registration of complaints and requests for traps to catch corrupt individuals. This information was released in an official statement on Thursday.
Vigilance Complaint Information Management System (VCIMS)

The new system christened as Vigilance Complaint Information Management System (VCIMS) promises to bring about transparency in dealing with corruption cases. It is expected that the LG will officially launch this VCIMS portal on September 21. The unique feature of this system is its faceless operation ensuring absolute secrecy of the complainants.
Transition from Physical Forms
Post-launch, the departments and directorate will cease accepting complaints received in physical form according to the same statement. This suggests a complete shift towards digitization aimed at enhancing efficiency and maintaining confidentiality.
A Controversial Move?
However, not everyone seems pleased with these developments. Sources within the Delhi government have alleged that the LG office has bypassed elected officials while making decisions about this matter - something they find extremely unfortunate.
Safeguarding Complainants
The new portal also comes equipped with features allowing lodging of complaints against senior government officials whilst ensuring anonymity. Adequate safeguards are said to be put into place when dealing with such sensitive complaints.
Prior Permissions & Safeguards
The decision to launch this anti-corruption initiative was taken after obtaining requisite permissions from all relevant authorities including but not limited to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology; thereby ensuring all necessary safeguards were met before proceeding.
An Outcome Of Zero Tolerance Policy Towards Corruption
The decision to launch the portal is a direct outcome of the LG's intervention in a meeting on corruption complaints disposal, held in May this year. The primary aim was to ensure zero tolerance towards corruption and promote transparency.
In conclusion, this move symbolizes an important step forward in India’s ongoing battle against corruption. By leveraging technology and digital platforms like VCIMS, the Delhi government seeks to streamline complaint registration process, maintain complainants' confidentiality and expedite action against corrupt officials. While there are some criticisms regarding bypassing elected officials during the decision-making process, it remains to be seen how effective this new system will be in curbing corruption practices within government departments.
