Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav Announces Cooperatives Can Operate Petrol Pumps and Medical Stores
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that cooperative societies in the state can now manage services such as petrol pumps and medical stores. "Now, cooperative societies can also operate petrol pumps, medical stores and other services," Yadav stated. This development follows agreements made during the Global Investors Summit in February to run factories through cooperatives.

Cooperative Sector Expansion
Yadav highlighted the significant potential within the cooperative sector, noting that multi-purpose cooperative societies are being leveraged to broaden these activities across Madhya Pradesh. He emphasised that milk production is a reliable way to boost household income. "The government is making every possible effort to promote cow rearing and dairy production. A subsidy scheme has been introduced for cattle rearing," he said.
Milk Production Initiatives
The state aims to increase its share of national milk output from 9% to 20%. "To improve farmers’ lives, the government will purchase cow milk directly," Yadav added. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah for their guidance in ensuring farmers' prosperity.
Earlier, Amit Shah, visiting Bhopal, remarked on the vast opportunities in agriculture, animal husbandry, and cooperatives in Madhya Pradesh. During the event, an agreement was signed between the National Dairy Development Board and the Madhya Pradesh State Co-operative Dairy Federation to boost milk production in the region.
The state's commitment to enhancing dairy production reflects its broader strategy to support farmers and expand cooperative activities. These initiatives aim to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve economic conditions for local communities.
