Congress Woman Supporter Molested On Stage At Congress Rally; Kumari Selja Calls For Action
In a recent incident that has stirred considerable controversy during the Haryana assembly election campaign, Congress MP Kumari Selja condemned an alleged molestation attempt involving a Congress worker on stage.
The incident reportedly occurred in the presence of other Congress leaders, including MP Deepender Hooda, raising significant concerns about the treatment of women in political spaces.

Selja spoke to the media following the event, where she detailed her conversation with the female worker, who expressed distress over someone allegedly touching her and attempting to remove her from the stage. "I spoke to her, and she confirmed that someone misbehaved with her. This kind of behavior is highly condemnable and action should be taken against the accused," Selja stated.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seized upon the incident to launch a scathing attack on the Congress party, with BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accusing Congress of being the "most anti-women party." He referred to the incident as "shameful," asserting that it highlighted a broader issue of safety for women within Congress. Poonawalla's remarks came after a video of the alleged incident circulated widely on social media, showing the discomfort of the female leader during the event.
"The video has surfaced in broad daylight, showing a female leader being openly harassed and abused by Congress workers, likely supporters of Hooda," Poonawalla declared. He questioned how women in Haryana could feel secure when even female leaders within the Congress party faced such harassment during public events.
Pradeep Bhandari, another BJP spokesperson, echoed Poonawalla's sentiments, stating, "This is how Congress treats the women of Haryana. The molestation of women is what Congress guarantees." He criticized Congress's commitment to women's empowerment, implying that the party's actions contradicted its stated objectives.
As the incident continues to unfold, the BJP's accusations have ignited a wider debate regarding gender issues in politics and the treatment of women in public spaces. This situation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by women in political environments, particularly during high-stakes election campaigns.
As the election draws closer, both parties are likely to face heightened scrutiny over their respective positions and policies regarding women's safety and empowerment.
