Congress Reveals Pyari Didi Yojana: Rs 2,500 Monthly Aid For Women In Delhi
As the Delhi Assembly elections approach, the Congress party has announced a new welfare scheme aimed at empowering women in the capital. The scheme, called the "Pyari Didi Yojana," promises to provide Rs 2,500 per month to women if the Congress is voted into power. The initiative is modeled after a similar program implemented by the Congress government in Karnataka, which has garnered attention for its focus on financially supporting women.
A Bold Promise: Rs 2,500 for Every Woman in Delhi

During a press conference on Monday, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who was in Delhi to announce the scheme, emphasized the party's commitment to women's empowerment. He expressed confidence that Congress would form the government in Delhi and that the scheme would be implemented immediately after the first Cabinet meeting of the new government. Shivakumar remarked, "Today, I am here to launch the 'Pyari Didi Yojana'. We are confident that Congress will form the government in Delhi, and on the first day of the new Cabinet, we will implement the scheme to provide Rs 2,500 to every woman in the capital."
A Track Record of Fulfilling Promises
Shivakumar also highlighted Congress' track record of fulfilling promises, citing the success of similar schemes in other states governed by the party. He asserted, "Whatever we have promised, Congress has delivered. Congress' strength is the country's strength, Congress history is the country's history." This statement reinforces Congress's reputation for implementing welfare programs once they are announced.
Strengthening Public Faith in Congress
Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav, who was also present at the announcement, echoed Shivakumar's sentiments. Yadav pointed out that the party had successfully fulfilled its promises in various states such as Karnataka, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. He added that this track record of delivering on promises had increased public faith in Congress.
A Dig at Arvind Kejriwal and AAP's Failures
Yadav also took aim at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of failing to fulfill his promises made to the people of Delhi. "The dreams that Arvind Kejriwal showed for Delhi are now falling apart," Yadav said. He criticized Kejriwal's administration for the deterioration of the city's situation over the past 11 years, citing failures in key areas like education, free electricity, free water, and the fight against corruption.
Congress Aims to Regain Delhi's Trust
As Delhi prepares for the 2025 Assembly elections, the Congress party aims to regain its foothold in the city, where it once ruled for 15 consecutive years. In the 2020 elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed a dominant victory, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured eight seats. Congress, however, failed to win any seats in the last two assembly elections.
The Pyari Didi Yojana: A Key Pillar in Congress' Campaign
The announcement of the Pyari Didi Yojana marks the first of several promises Congress intends to make in its bid to win back the confidence of Delhi voters. The scheme, which focuses on the financial empowerment of women, is likely to play a significant role in the party's election campaign as it seeks to regain support in the capital.
