Congress' First Lok Sabha Candidate List 2024: Who's Standing Where In Karnataka?
The Congress announced the first list of 39 candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha election on Friday.
Prominent leaders featured in the list included Rahul Gandhi contesting from Wayanad, former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel from Rajnandgaon, and Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram.

Congress 1st Lok Sabha List - Who's Standing Where In Karnataka?
The Karnataka Congress has unveiled its list of candidates for the upcoming elections. Among the notable names announced, HR Algur will contest from Bijapur, while Anandaswamy Gaddadevara Math has been nominated for the Haveri constituency.
Geetha Shivarajkumar, wife of Kannada actor Shivaraj Kumar, will be contesting from Shivamogga, where she will face off against BSY's son, Raghavendra. Shreyas Patel has been selected to represent the party in Hassan, and SP Muddahanumegowda will contest from Tumkur.
Venkataramegowda, popularly known as Star Chandru, has been nominated for the Mandya constituency. Additionally, DK Suresh, the brother of DK Shivakumar, will be contesting again from Bangalore Rural. These nominations mark the Congress's strategic moves as they gear up for the electoral battle in Karnataka.
The suspense regarding whether Rahul Gandhi will contest a second seat, particularly Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, remains unresolved, with discussions on the matter postponed to subsequent meetings, as stated by the party. In recent weeks, an aggressive election campaign has been underway, highlighted by Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which has progressed through Gujarat and is set to conclude in Mumbai.
A massive rally is scheduled for March 17, with invitations extended to all party leaders across India. The Congress president is in the process of drafting a letter to all party associates. Additionally, several promises have been announced, including legislation for Minimum Support Price (MSP), a caste census, and social security measures for gig workers.
Five pledges have been made for the youth of the nation, including Bharti Bharosa, guaranteed first jobs, youth empowerment, and freedom from exam pressure. The announcement of 39 candidate names was preceded by remarks from KC Venugopal, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to defend his seat, emphasizing a commitment to a fair and constructive electoral contest.
Shashi Tharoor, upon the announcement of his candidacy, expressed humility and gratitude for the opportunity, noting a history devoid of negative campaigning over his fifteen years in politics. Regarding the Delhi seats where candidates have yet to be finalized, Venugopal clarified that the party's selection process prioritizes candidates with the greatest potential for victory, ensuring there are no conflicts in ticket distribution.
