Congress Calls for Ramesh Bidhuri's Apology Over Derogatory Remarks About Priyanka Gandhi

The Congress party has demanded an apology from BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri for his controversial remarks about Priyanka Gandhi. Bidhuri's comments, comparing roads in his constituency to Gandhi's cheeks, have been criticised as reflecting a disrespectful attitude towards women. Congress leader Pawan Khera stated that such remarks reveal the mindset of both Bidhuri and his mentors in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Congress Demands Apology from Ramesh Bidhuri

Supriya Shrinate, another Congress leader, expressed that Bidhuri's words expose the true nature of the ruling party. "THE BJP is extremely anti-women. Ramesh Bidhuri's statement regarding Priyanka Gandhi is not only shameful but also shows his disgusting mentality towards women," she said in a video statement. She questioned whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders would address this issue.

Political Reactions and Criticism

Congress leader Manickam Tagore highlighted the timing of Bidhuri's comments, noting they came shortly after Modi announced him as a candidate for Delhi CM. Tagore questioned if Modi would replace him or if he supports this anti-woman agenda. Alka Lamba, Mahila Congress president, criticised Bidhuri for repeatedly using indecent language against women.

Bidhuri initially defended his remarks by referencing a similar comment made by RJD leader Lalu Prasad about Hema Malini. However, he later expressed regret on social media if his words had offended anyone, suggesting they were misinterpreted for political purposes.

Public Outrage and Demands for Accountability

Congress candidate Ragini Nayak condemned Bidhuri's comments as indicative of the BJP's mindset towards women. She urged the women of Delhi to consider how the BJP views them if such remarks are made against a female leader. AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar also denounced Bidhuri's indecent comment.

Shrinate further criticised Modi for setting a precedent with derogatory language towards women, questioning what else could be expected from his followers. "In fact, the father of this anti-women language and thinking is Modi ji himself - who uses words like mangalsutra and mujra - so what else will his people say? He should apologise for such cheap thoughts," she stated.

The controversy has sparked widespread criticism from various political figures and organisations, demanding accountability from both Bidhuri and the BJP leadership. The incident has intensified discussions on gender sensitivity in political discourse.
