Congress Cries 'Sabotage' After Priyanka Gandhi’s Helicopter Fails to Land In J&K
The Congress party has levied serious accusations against the Jammu and Kashmir administration, asserting that deliberate obstacles were placed to prevent Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's helicopter from landing in the Billawar constituency of Kathua district. This incident notably disrupted her scheduled rally in support of the party's candidate, Dr. Manohar Lal. Furthermore, the Congress leadership criticized the administration for the logistical failure, suggesting it was an act of sabotage aimed at derailing their campaign efforts amidst the J&K Assembly elections.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in her address in Bishnah, staunchly criticized the BJP's governance in Jammu and Kashmir, accusing the party of plunging the region into crises over the last decade. She promised to work towards restoring the dignity and statehood of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing her commitment to reviving the traditional 'Darbar Move' and safeguarding local land and job rights. Her speech also included pledges to waive off pending domestic power tariffs and to resume the rehabilitation process for Kashmiri Pandits, which began during Dr. Manmohan Singh's tenure.
The Congress spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma, expressed his discontent with the administration's handling of the situation, describing it as a blatant act of sabotage. He highlighted the inconvenience caused by allocating a landing spot for the chopper over 35 kilometers away from the intended rally location, in a remote area. Sharma called for a thorough inquiry into the incident and appealed to the Election Commission to take cognizance of this matter.
Priyanka Gandhi's dedication to opposing the current administration's policies was clear in her condemnation of the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor's governance style, which she likened to dictatorial rule. She accused the LG of allowing Jammu and Kashmir to be exploited by big corporations, emphasizing the adverse impact on local resources and employment opportunities for the youth. Furthermore, she pointed out the increase in terrorism under the current administration, citing statistics of attacks and casualties to underline her concerns.
In her critique of the BJP's approach to Jammu and Kashmir, Priyanka Gandhi highlighted the party's use of the region as a political instrument, manipulating sentiments across the country for electoral gain. She voiced her dismay at the BJP's policies, which she argued have stripped the people of Jammu and Kashmir of their statehood, land, and job rights, thereby exacerbating their hardships.
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition, also faced logistical challenges, as his helicopter encountered technical issues, preventing him from attending rallies in the Chhamb and Ramgarh constituencies of Jammu. This series of disruptions to the Congress campaign spotlighted concerns regarding the fairness of the electoral process and the administration's impartiality in facilitating political activities across the spectrum.
