CDS Anil Chauhan Junks Reports Claiming Lose Of 6 Indian Jets During Operation Sindoor
Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Anil Chauhan, recently made it clear that the claims made by Pakistan regarding the downing of six Indian jets during Operation Sindoor are entirely unfounded. Speaking at Bloomberg TV, Gen Chauhan emphasized the significance of understanding the reasons behind the aircraft losses to enhance military tactics. This statement was made against the backdrop of a four-day military confrontation with Pakistan earlier in May.
The focus, according to Gen Chauhan, should not solely be on the loss of jets but more importantly on the reasons behind these losses. He explained that the Indian military has already taken steps to learn from tactical errors, which were promptly corrected. Following these adjustments, India's air force resumed operations, targeting from long distances just two days after recognizing the mistakes. Gen Chauhan's remarks illustrate a proactive approach towards improving military effectiveness and resilience.

India's Response and Safety of Pilots
In the wake of the confrontation, the safety of the pilots involved has been a primary concern. Gen Chauhan confirmed that all Indian pilots involved in Operation Sindoor have safely returned home, debunking any speculation about casualties or captures among Indian Air Force personnel. This update provides a significant relief and stands as a testament to the Indian military's commitment to its personnel's safety and operational success.
During his attendance at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, a key security summit in the Asia-Pacific region, Gen Chauhan reiterated India's stance on the recent military engagement. He highlighted the intrinsic nature of losses in combat scenarios but pointed out that the ultimate measure of success is the achievement of objectives. According to him, India has emphatically met its goals during this operation. This perspective underscores the strategic focus of the Indian military, emphasizing outcome over losses.
Official Statements and National Attention
The Indian Air Force's Director General of Air Operations, Air Marshal AK Bharti, echoed Gen Chauhan's sentiments in a media briefing on May 11, acknowledging that losses are inherent in combat operations. However, he reinforced the positive outcome of all IAF pilots returning safely. This operation has garnered significant national interest, being classified by the government as the largest counter-terror action India has undertaken in recent years. The consistent messaging from India's defense leadership emphasizes the strategic accomplishments and the emphasis on learning and adaptation following the operation.
