Caught On Cam | Traffic Cops Suspended After Bribery Video Goes Viral - What's Next?
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has announced the suspension of three traffic policemen who were caught on camera dividing money they allegedly took as a bribe.
The incident, captured on CCTV and widely circulated on social media, shows a cop inside a police checkpost at Gazipur, Thrill Lauri Circle, engaging in a suspicious exchange with a man.

Caught On Cam | Traffic Cops Splitting Bribe Money
In the video, the policeman can be seen in a heated discussion with the man, who then places a bundle of cash on a table. The officer stands by, vigilantly watching, while the transaction takes place. Once the man leaves, the cop sits down and begins counting the money. Later, the footage shows the three policemen gathered together as the initial officer splits the money among them, with the other two smiling as they receive their share.
Responding to the viral video, LG VK Saxena took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm that the three officers, including two assistant sub-inspectors and one head constable, have been suspended following a preliminary investigation. Saxena added that a comprehensive departmental inquiry is now underway to address the misconduct.
This incident is not an isolated one for the Delhi Traffic Police. Earlier in July, a traffic constable named Mahesh Chand was suspended after a video surfaced showing him accepting a ₹5,000 fine from a South Korean national without providing a receipt. The entire exchange was captured by the dashcam of the Korean man's car and quickly went viral on social media. In response, the Delhi Traffic Police suspended the officer and initiated an inquiry into the matter.
In another incident in June, two traffic constables from the Kapashera circle were suspended for taking a bribe from a transporter. The Delhi Traffic Police had ordered a departmental inquiry against the constables, Ranvir Singh and Rajesh Kumar, with possible dismissal on the horizon.
These incidents highlight ongoing concerns about corruption within the Delhi Traffic Police, prompting swift action and investigations by authorities to ensure accountability.
