Bihar Voter Adhikar Yatra: Rahul Gandhi's Car Hits A Police Man, Injured

A police officer was injured in an unusual incident involving Rahul Gandhi's vehicle during the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Bihar. The open-top jeep, carrying the Leader of Opposition, accidentally ran over the officer's feet amidst a crowd of supporters and security personnel in Nawada. Fellow officers and supporters quickly moved the vehicle back to free the injured policeman.

The BJP criticised Congress following the incident, alleging that the constable was "crushed" under Mr Gandhi's car. Shehzad Poonawala, a party spokesperson, mocked the march by calling it "Crush Janta Yatra". He stated, "Rahul Gandhi's car crushed a police constable, who was critically injured. Dynast did not even get down to check on him."

Political Campaign Strategy

The 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' was launched by Rahul Gandhi in Sasaram last Sunday as part of a campaign strategy for the upcoming Bihar elections. The elections are anticipated to take place at the end of this year. The Congress has positioned this march as a moral crusade to protect democracy, with Mr Gandhi asserting that there is a plot to "steal votes" in Bihar.

Mr Gandhi was seen standing in the open-top jeep when he immediately offered a water bottle to his supporters to help the injured officer. He later met with the policeman to inquire about his condition. The cop was observed limping away after being released from beneath the vehicle's wheels.

March Route and Objectives

The 16-day-long march will conclude in Patna on September 1, covering more than 20 districts and spanning 1,300 km. Key locations along its path include Nalanda, Munger, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnea, Darbhanga, Siwan, Chapra, and Ara. This political journey follows previous marches like Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra which Congress claims resulted in significant electoral benefits for them.

Rahul Gandhi is accompanied by prominent Opposition leaders such as Lalu Yadav from RJD and his son Tejashwi Yadav during this campaign. The Congress has emphasised that this initiative aims to highlight their commitment to safeguarding democratic processes amid alleged conspiracies against fair voting practices in Bihar.
