Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose Criticises State Government for Irregular Information Delivery
West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose expressed concerns about the state government's inconsistency in providing requested information. Speaking at Raj Bhavan, he highlighted Article 167 of the Constitution. This article requires the chief minister to furnish details on administrative matters to the governor. Bose noted that he often did not receive reports, though occasionally some were provided after insistence.

Bose recently requested an immediate action-taken report from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. This request followed alleged violence in Beldanga, Murshidabad district. The governor's demand underscores his commitment to addressing administrative issues promptly.
Governor's Criticism of Kolkata Police
The governor also voiced concerns about a segment of the Kolkata Police. He remarked, "I have also earlier stated, that a part of the... I won't say fully, a part of the Kolkata Police is criminalist, a part is politicised, a part is corrupt. This is my observation." Despite these criticisms, Bose acknowledged that not all police personnel are at fault.
He emphasised the importance of recognising issues within the police force without demoralising it entirely. Bose stated his intention to address these problems directly and transparently as part of his gubernatorial duties.
Commitment to Upholding the Constitution
Bose reiterated his dedication to serving the people of Bengal while adhering to constitutional principles. He stressed that his actions aim to ensure accountability and transparency in governance for the welfare of citizens.
The governor's remarks reflect ongoing tensions between state authorities and his office. His insistence on receiving timely information highlights his role in overseeing state administration effectively.
Bose's comments underline his resolve to maintain constitutional integrity while addressing governance challenges in West Bengal. His focus remains on ensuring that administrative processes are transparent and accountable.
