Andhra Pradesh: Law Student Gang-Raped By Lover, His Friends In Vizag; Attempts Suicide After Ordeal
A law student in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, was gang-raped by four men, including her boyfriend, earlier this year. The group also blackmailed her with explicit videos. All the accused have been arrested and remanded in police custody, according to the authorities.
The woman, traumatised by the ordeal, attempted suicide but was saved by her father, the police confirmed. A case has been filed under several sections, including Section 67(A) of the IT Act (2000-2008).

Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Shanka Brata Bagchi identified the accused as the woman's boyfriend, Vamsi, and three of his friends.
The police stated that Vamsi and the law student had been in a relationship for over a year. On August 13, 2024, Vamsi took the student to a friend's room in Krishna Nagar, Visakhapatnam, where she was sexually assaulted. One of the other men recorded the intimate moments.
Vamsi and his friends later threatened to release the videos and allegedly assaulted her again.
The woman attempted suicide on November 18, but was rescued by her father. She later reported the incident to her family, prompting them to file a police complaint.
The four men were arrested on Tuesday.
The YSRCP party condemned the TDP government over the case. They stated, "Law student gang-raped by four youths in Visakhapatnam. The atrocity was filmed on a cellphone... The victim was threatened and repeatedly assaulted. The victim attempted suicide after being harassed by the accused... Her father saved her. How many more girls and children should fall victim to the incompetence of the coalition government?" the party wrote on X.
