Amit Shah Chairs Review Meeting on Coordinated Efforts to Eliminate Naxalism by March 2026
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has urged security forces and agencies to work together to eradicate Left Wing Extremism (LWE) by March 2026. He made this call during a review meeting in Chhattisgarh, attended by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, and other key officials. Shah emphasised the need for coordinated efforts to achieve this goal.

Chhattisgarh's police and security forces have made significant progress against Naxalism over the past year. Amit Shah acknowledged their success in inflicting substantial damage on extremist groups. However, he stressed that more work is needed to completely eliminate Naxalism by the target date.
Joint Efforts and Strategic Goals
The Union minister expressed confidence that Naxalism could be eradicated before March 2026. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of CRPF, ITBP, BSF, Chhattisgarh police, and DRG in moving towards this significant objective within a year. Shah's optimism was evident as he outlined the strategic goals for the coming years.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is expected to play a crucial role in this endeavour. Amit Shah underscored the importance of the NIA's involvement in achieving the complete elimination of LWE. This highlights the multi-agency approach being adopted to tackle extremism effectively.
Operational Preparedness Review
Earlier on the same day, Amit Shah visited the Gundam forward operating base in Bijapur district. During his visit, he assessed the operational readiness of security forces stationed there. This visit underscores the government's commitment to ensuring that forces are well-prepared to handle challenges posed by extremists.
The meeting also included discussions on enhancing coordination among various security agencies. The presence of high-ranking officials from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Chhattisgarh's top police officers indicates a unified approach towards combating extremism.
The focus remains on strengthening joint efforts among all involved parties. Amit Shah's call for collaboration aims to ensure that all resources are utilised efficiently in the fight against LWE. The goal is to create a safer environment for citizens by eradicating extremist threats.
This initiative reflects a comprehensive strategy involving multiple stakeholders. By setting a clear deadline and fostering cooperation, the government aims to achieve lasting peace and security in affected regions.
