Security personnel patrolling the street during a strike call by separatist groups on the occasion of 71st Independence Day seemed clueless about Sunita Arora's out of the blue appearance.

According to Rising Kashmir reports, Arora was stopped from hoisting the tricolor because of the prevalent law and order scenario.

"She was later let go."

However, BJP dismissed her association with the party.

"Police had brought her to TRC where we were hoisting the tricolor thinking that she was from BJP but then she herself said she doesn't belong to any party,'' Rising Kashmir quoted BJP leader Altaf Thakur as saying.

Earlier, one the eve of Independence Day police had detained around 250 activists of BJP's youth wing, who were on a 'Tiranga yatra' to hoist the national flag at the Lal Chowk. They had been taken to different police stations of the summer state capital.
