Allahabad HC Junks NEET Aspirant's 'Torn OMR Sheet' Plea, Terms It Case Of 'Forged Documents'

The Allahabad High Court dismissed a petition by NEET aspirant Ayushi Patel, citing discrepancies in her claims regarding a damaged OMR answer sheet.

Patel alleged that the National Testing Agency (NTA) failed to declare her result due to a torn OMR sheet. She claimed a score of 715 based on the answer key but received a result associated with a different application number showing only 335 marks. These claims, shared in a viral video, stirred controversy amid allegations of "irregularities" in the 2024 NEET-UG exam.

Patel's petition called for a manual evaluation of her OMR sheet, an inquiry against the NTA, and a halt to the ongoing admission counseling. However, the NTA presented the original OMR sheet in court, which showed no damage.

The court labeled the case as involving "forged documents," dismissed the petition, and allowed the NTA to pursue legal action against Patel. Patel's advocate subsequently requested to withdraw the petition, which the court accepted.

The NTA had previously refuted Patel's claims, asserting that her actual score was lower than she claimed and that the OMR sheet was intact, reported India Today.

Patel's viral video was even shared by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who supported her claims and urged the government to address alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam.

Now, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala has accused Priyanka Gandhi of "peddling fakery" and demanded an apology from her.
