Akhilesh Yadav Slams UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Says Clothes Don't Make One Yogi
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav criticised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, stating that a person's character is defined by their words, not their attire. This remark was made on the birthday of 'Khajanchi,' a boy born during the demonetisation period. Yadav named the boy and used the occasion to highlight his views on leadership and governance.
Yadav expressed that those who engage in encounters will soon face consequences, implying that their time in power is limited. He suggested that people with deceitful tendencies often become harsh in speech. "You can see that their language has changed," he noted, referring to changes in behaviour among certain leaders.

Criticism of Governance
The SP chief accused the BJP of lacking credibility and claimed his party would strategise against them in upcoming bypolls. He questioned the authenticity of those who claim to be yogis but act otherwise. "A person who does not consider anyone to be bigger than him, what kind of a yogi is he?" he asked, targeting Adityanath.
Yadav argued that true saints speak less and focus on public welfare, contrasting this with current leaders' verbose nature. He reiterated, "A person is not a yogi by what he wears, but by what he speaks," emphasising the importance of words over appearance.
Demonetisation's Impact
Reflecting on demonetisation, Yadav said it symbolises BJP's corruption and likened its effects to "slow poison" affecting various societal segments like farmers and traders. He predicted it would lead to BJP's downfall, stating it caused economic recession and business closures.
Yadav criticised BJP's 'Amrit Kaal' slogan, claiming their rule has only led to national ruin. He lamented how those expected to be gentle have become harsh and deceitful. "Those whose job should be to run the government are running bulldozers," he remarked about the administration's destructive approach.
Concerns Over State Governance
The former UP chief minister highlighted issues like farmers' struggles for fertilisers under BJP's rule, accusing them of being intoxicated by power. He argued that bulldozers symbolise injustice rather than development under this government.
Yadav further accused the state government of operating outside constitutional boundaries. "The BJP government is not running on 'Samvidhan' (Constitution) but on 'Manvidhan' (arbitrary rule)," he stated, criticising their governance style as arbitrary and undemocratic.
The SP leader also mentioned an increase in women visiting the Chief Minister's residence due to distress under this administration. His remarks reflect deep concerns about current governance practices and their impact on society.
