Air India Fixes Third‑Party System After Check‑In Glitch Causes Flight Delays
Air India restored its check-in operations on Tuesday night after a fault in a third-party system disrupted processes across several airports and caused delays for multiple carriers. The airline said services had returned to normal and assured passengers that flights were back on schedule.

Check-In System Fully Restored
"The third-party system has been fully restored, and check-in at all airports is functioning normally. All our flights are operating as per schedule. We thank our passengers for their understanding," Air India said in a post on X.
Earlier, the airline confirmed that the malfunction affected several carriers and triggered delays across different airports.
"Our airport teams are working diligently to ensure a smooth check-in experience for all passengers," it said in a previous update on X.
Delays Expected Until Complete Stabilisation
The airline noted that although systems were coming back online, some flights might still face delays "until the situation fully normalises."
Passengers were asked to verify their flight status before heading to the airport and to arrive earlier than they normally would.
Earlier Glitch at Delhi Airport
A similar incident occurred last month at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, where more than four hundred flights faced delays after a technical failure in the Automatic Message Switching System. The IP based AMSS disruption affected domestic and international carriers, including Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet.
The breakdown forced air traffic controllers to prepare flight plans manually, a slower process that caused long queues and widespread operational delays. A review meeting was held by the Secretary of the Civil Aviation Ministry along with senior officials from AAI to address the issue and ensure corrective steps.
System Failures Raise Operational Concerns
The recurring tech related disruptions have drawn attention to the need for more resilient digital systems within aviation operations. For now, Air India has assured passengers that its services are stable and functioning normally as the restored system continues to support regular schedules.
