Actress Swara Bhasker Calls Hamas Terrorist Yahya Sinwar "A Revolutionary Hero", Faces Backlash
Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker is facing backlash on social media after calling Hamas leader and designated terrorist Yahya Sinwar as a "revolutionary hero" who was recently killed by Israel in an operation.
In a post on social media, the actress, wife of activist and Samajwadi Party leader Fahad Ahmad, said, "I didn't know anything about Yahya Sinwar till I saw the footage of his last moments & assassination by the Zionist State and now I think he's a revolutionary hero. Listen to his will, his last words and tell me that you are unmoved. #FreePalestine 🇵🇸❤️🩹"

Swara Bhasker has been vocal about her criticism of Israel during the ongoing Gaza conflict. In a recent post, she said: "Amongst the many personal lessons I've learnt this past year from #GazaGenocide one major one is - NEVER BELIEVE A WHITE NARRATIVE ABOUT WHO IS A 'TERRORIST'... Doubt everything the White Western Power structures have told you!! #DecoloniseYourMind."
However, netizens have come down heavily on her comments about Yahya Sinwar. One user said, "Why are your heroes always designated terrørists like Yahya Sinwar, Nasrallah, Ismail Haniyeh, Burhan Wani, Afzal Guru, Yakub Memon, Umar Khalid? Pretty sure if there were not any general consensus about bin Laden, you would've hailed him as a hero & martyr too."
The second user commented, "In the name of #FreePalestine,@ReallySwara has gone completely rogue and openly defending Hamas terrorist #YahyahSinwar killed by Israel. I'm moved Swara by your complete conversion."
The third user said, "Even afzal was your hero... Nothing new to see you glorify terrorists 🙂 Brainless bail buddhi you are 🙏 A perfect example for all indians to use How not to raise your children 🙏🤬."
"When ru joining hammus chachi ?" another netizen asked her in a sarcastic post. The fifth user added, "Some people actually have to give their lives before Swara can consider them a hero."
The sixth user added, "Unmoved yes ! Only you can glorify the man who orchestrated the Oct 7th 2023 massacre Osama , Dawood , Hafeez , Kasab were also revolutionary heroes as per your dumb fcuked logic."
Yahya Sinwar, the subject of Swara's comments, was a Palestinian militant and politician who served as the chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau from August 2024 and was the leader of Hamas in Gaza from 2017 until his death in October 2024. He succeeded Ismail Haniyeh in both roles.
The post and the reactions it sparked reflect the deeply polarized opinions surrounding the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict and the figures involved.
