4 Christian converts arrested for poisoning to death 45 cows in Haryana

New Delhi, Feb 14: Four people have been arrested by the Karnal police in Haryana in connection with the death of 45 cows under mysterious circumstances.
The incident took place at a gaushala in Phoosgarh village maintained by the Karnal Municipal Corporation. The incident according to reports took place on January 26 midnight.

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) is probing the case and the initial details reveal that the cows may have died due to poisoning.
It was revealed that the accused persons had fed Calphos-laced jaggery to the cows, which resulted in their deaths. The accused persons used to regularly lift the carcasses of the dead cows and may have designed a plan to kill the cows to earn money, the probe also found.
According to the police the accused were converted Christians. They have been identified as Vishal Kumar, Suraj Kumar, Rajat Kumar and Sonu. A Dainik Bhaskar report said that the accused used to lift the carcasses of the dead cows and sell the hides and bones.
The report said that the accused were habitual offenders who had been killing cows regularly. They would kill 4-5 animals regularly so that none suspected them. This time the news got highlighted as they decided to poison and kill 45 cows.
According to the police, the accused persons conspired to poison the cows with the help of one Suresh Kumar. All the accused persons have been booked under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
It may be recalled a similar case had been reported in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh last year, where dozens of cows died after consuming fodder that had been poisoned. It was found that dozens of cows suddenly fell ill in a gaushala in Amroha after they were fed the fodder which was purchased from one Tahir on August 3 2022.
In April 2022, the police in Haryana had chased a set of cow smugglers in Gurugram. When they were suspected that they may be caught, they began throwing the cows from the moving vehicle. The video of the same had gone viral on the social media.

In 2017, cow smugglers had attacked the Haryana police at the Kharkhari village of Mewat district. All of them managed to flee after they fired at the police. No police man was injured the attack, but a vehicle of theirs was completely damaged.

The police have also carried out raids and arrested several individuals involved in cattle smuggling. These persons who indulge in cattle smuggling have also been liked to drug and human trafficking the police have learnt.
