18 Hour Delay For Mumbai Western Railways Train

On Friday morning, 14 June, sometime around 7:30 AM, an announcement was made that the Mumbai Western Railways train going from Udhna to Puri would be delayed by 18 hours, leading to a long wait time and great inconvenience for the passengers of the train.

Railway officials stated that the 08472 train, which was to start its journey at 5:00 PM on 14 June, 2024, will instead start its journey at 11:00 AM on 15 June, 2024.

18 Hour Delay For The Mumbai Train Going From Udhna To Puri:

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Shri Niraj Verma, the Divisional Railway Manager of Western Railway's Mumbai Central Division, made a post requesting the attention of all passengers. The post said, "Train 08472 UDHNA-PURI SPL scheduled departure at 17:00 hrs on 14/06/2024 has been rescheduled to depart at 11:00 hrs on 15/06/2024. This is an 18:00-hour delay. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by this change. Check the latest train running status for Train 08472 before heading to the station. You can find this information on the Indian Railways website or app. If possible, inform fellow passengers traveling on the same train about the delay."

While the starting of the train 08472 has been delayed by 18 hours, the arrival of the train at Puri may only be delayed by 10 hours, according to the National Train Enquiry System. By picking up speed and shortening the time between arrival and departure at the stations, the train may reach its destination sooner than expected. The arrival time, which was 10:45 PM, 15 June before the day; is said to be around 8:45 AM, 16 June after the delay.

This is not the only recent instance of this particular train being delayed, as just a couple weeks ago, on 17 May, 2024, the official Western Railways X account announced a 19 hour delay on the 08472 Udhna to Puri train. It was rescheduled to depart at 12:00 PM on 18 May instead of its originally scheduled time of 5:00 PM on 17 May.
