11 Soldiers Missing After Flash Floods Hit Army Camp in Uttarakhand's Harshil

A devastating cloudburst near Dharali village in Uttarakhand triggered flash floods that struck an Indian Army camp in Harshil, leaving 11 soldiers unaccounted for. The cloudburst occurred at approximately 1:45 pm in the Kheer Ganga River catchment area, just 4 km from the army base, causing sudden inundation and widespread destruction.

Despite being cut off from easy access and facing extreme weather, the stationed unit has continued its operations with unwavering determination. The Indian Army has mobilised additional columns to bolster the ongoing rescue and relief operations.

Rapid Response and Rescue Efforts

According to local sources, 150 army personnel were swiftly deployed to the disaster site. Rescue teams have begun evacuating stranded villagers and delivering emergency aid. Dharali - a crucial stop en route to Gangotri - bore the brunt of the flood, with homes and roads damaged by the forceful waters.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described the situation as "extremely sad and distressing," assuring that relief operations are being carried out on a war footing. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Mr Dhami confirmed that SDRF, NDRF, district authorities, and emergency response teams are actively working to stabilise the region and locate the missing.
