100 banarasi sarees for Michelle Obama, with love!
New Delhi, Jan 25: It is believed that Narendra Modi will be gifting about 100 banarsi silk sarees to the First Lady on her India visit. She will also be gifted with dress materials, keeping in mind the fact that she is very fond of silks and has been seen spotting Jacquard silk and silk dresses.
She spots some of the best international brands such as Tracy Resse, Naeem Khan and Alexander McQueen. However, it would really be nice to see the first lady draping herself with the 9-yards of silk at her India visit.
Jacquered silk, being a specialty of weavers in Benaras (also PM Modi's constituency). the responsibility of packaging the sarees has been given to the Varanasi Vastra Udyog Sangh, which is a body of silk traders of Varanasi.
