Telangana Tunnel Collapse: SLBC Rescue Efforts Get Robotic Support

In a major boost to rescue efforts at the SLBC (Srisailam Left Bank Canal) tunnel collapse site, Hyderabad-based ANVI Robotics has deployed advanced robotic technology to assist teams navigating the hazardous conditions inside the tunnel. These robots, equipped with high-resolution cameras, infrared sensors, and robotic arms, are helping assess the feasibility of reaching a second critical point where more workers may be trapped.

With over 110 personnel from multiple agencies actively involved, the robotic support is providing a crucial technological advantage. The main objective is to access the second identified point, which has been determined using cadaver dogs and ground-penetrating radar (GPR). Recognizing the need for advanced resources, the government has allocated ₹4 crores for robotic services. The mission's progress will be reviewed today by the Irrigation Minister, while Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is expected to join the review virtually.

The rescue efforts are being led by teams from the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), with additional support from specialized rat miners. Meanwhile, the removal of wreckage from the collapsed tunnel-boring machine, a critical part of the operation, is progressing rapidly.

Authorities remain focused on ensuring the safety of any remaining trapped workers while expediting the clearing process. The introduction of robotic assistance has provided new hope, enabling teams to explore inaccessible areas and improve the efficiency of rescue efforts.
