Telangana Election Results: Who Are In The CM Race From Congress? Check Probable Names

The Congress is leading in 65 out of the 119 seats in Telangana. The initial trends showed the national party was racing ahead of the incumbent BRS, which was leading in 39 seats.

At the start of counting at 8 am, postal ballots were first taken up. BJP and AIMIM were ahead in 6 and 4 seats, respectively. The simple majority mark to form government in the southern state is 60 seats. K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) has been in power since 2014, when Telangana was granted statehood and won the 2018 elections as well and is hopeful of a hattrick.

Revanth Reddy

Anumula Revanth Reddy is an MP from the Malkajgiri constituency. He had earlier held the position of Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for two terms, representing the Kodangal constituency. During 2009-2014, he was associated with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, and from 2014 to 2018, he continued as an MLA in the Telangana Assembly.

In October 2017, Anumula Revanth Reddy parted ways with the TDP and joined the Indian National Congress. His political journey took another turn in June 2021 when he was appointed as the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee.

Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka

Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka held the position of the second leader of the opposition in the Telangana Legislative Assembly. He successfully secured election as a Member of the Legislative Assembly in both the 2009 and 2014 elections. Notably, he served as the chief whip for the Government of Andhra Pradesh from 2009 to 2011. Additionally, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka assumed the role of Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2014. He represents the Madhira constituency.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is the Member of Parliament of Bhuvanagiri Parliament Constituency from 2019. He is the star campaigner of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee from 2022. He was Deputy Floor Leader, Telangana Congress Legislative Party and former MLA of Nalgonda Assembly constituency.

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy emerged victorious in the 2014 general election as a candidate of the YSR Congress Party, defeating Nama Nageswara Rao. Subsequently, he switched allegiance to TRS (now BRS). During the 2018 general elections, he lent his support to the TRS MLA candidate Lingala Kamalraju.

However, in 2023, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy faced suspension from the BRS party (formerly TRS) due to alleged anti-party activities. On July 2, 2023, he officially joined the Congress during the 'Telangana Jana Garjana' public meeting held in Khammam, in the presence of Rahul Gandhi.
