Hyderabad Water Disruption: HMWSSB Confirms 40-Hour Drinking Water Cut From February 11, Area-Wise List Inside
Residents across several neighbourhoods in Hyderabad should prepare for a prolonged interruption in drinking water supply, as authorities have announced a nearly 40-hour shutdown beginning early Wednesday, February 11.

The disruption is linked to urgent maintenance and repair work on a key pumping main that supports water distribution to large parts of the city.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) confirmed that the suspension is necessary to address significant leakages along the Manjeera Phase-II pipeline, a major source of drinking water for the city.
Repair Works Trigger Supply Shutdown
Officials stated that the stoppage is due to ongoing repair works on the Manjeera Phase-II pumping main between Patancheru and Hydernagar, as well as between Kalabgur and Patancheru. Multiple leakages were reported along the 1500-mm diameter PSC pumping main, prompting immediate maintenance to prevent further losses and stabilise supply.
"In view of major leakages reported from various locations along the 1500-mm diameter PSC pumping main of Manjeera Phase-2, the drinking water line to Hyderabad, specifically from Patancheru to Hydernagar and from Kalabgoor to Patancheru, there will be a 40-hour disruption in water supply starting 6 a.m. on Wednesday."
Maintenance activity is scheduled to continue until 10 p.m. on Thursday, February 12. Authorities indicated that while some localities may receive water at reduced pressure, others are likely to experience a complete halt in supply during this period.
Localities Likely to Be Affected
The interruption will impact several residential and commercial areas across the city. Residents in the following locations should plan ahead:
- RC Puram
- Ashok Nagar
- Jyothi Nagar
- Lingampally
- Chandanagar
- Gangaram
- Madinaguda
- Miyapur
- Beeramguda
- Ameenpur
- Bhagyanagar Colony
- Erragadda
- SR Nagar
- Ameerpet
- KPHB Colony
- Kukatpally
- Bhagyanagar Colony (Pragathi Nagar)
Advisory for Residents
In an official release issued on Monday, HMWSSB reiterated the reason behind the shutdown and urged consumers to be cautious about usage.
"During these 40 hours, some areas will experience low-pressure water supply, while others will face a complete disruption in supply. Consumers in the affected areas are requested to use water judiciously," the release said.
Authorities expect the repair works to restore normal supply soon after completion, but residents are encouraged to store adequate water in advance and limit consumption until services fully resume.
