GHMC Approves Rs 749 Crore For Khajaguda-Gachibowli Road Widening, Flyovers, And Infrastructure Projects
A number of significant infrastructure projects have been approved by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with the goal of improving municipal amenities and connectivity throughout Hyderabad. An administrative approval of Rs 2.12 crore was given for the relocation of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Phase-2 Main Ring 1 pipeline at Bandlaguda Cross Road, one of the important decisions made. This project will extend from Royal Steel Traders to Nafees Garden Function Hall.
The GHMC also approved the construction of a box drain between Yerragunta and Bandlaguda Housing Colony. Separately, the committee authorised the 25-year lease to the All for Animals Foundation of 4,350 square yards of land in Gopanpally village that had previously belonged to the Ranki Foundation. A state-of-the-art animal shelter with cutting-edge medical facilities and equipment will be constructed and run on this property.

A road widening project for an estimated Rs 5.10 crore was allowed to build a 40-foot-wide road that would connect Nagabowli intersection to Dabeerpura police station. Apollo Hospital Enterprises Limited and the GHMC also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Jubilee Hills Check Post Park (5,373 sq. meters) and Bamboo Park (4,000 sq. meters) at Road No. 36 will be developed and managed by Apollo for three years as part of this arrangement.
The discussion focused mostly on property acquisition for road widening and connectivity enhancements. This includes the acquisition of 43 properties for an 18-meter wide road from Topkhana Masjid to Osmangunj, 19 properties for the expansion of the road between Goshamahal and Osmanganj, 112 properties for widening routes from the northwest corner of Police Land to Darusalam Road and from Malakunta Road to Old Topu Khana Road, and 95 properties for widening the stretch from Ghode Ki Khabar to Begum Bazaar from 12 meters to 18 meters, along with a 200-meter extension.
In one of the most ambitious projects approved, the GHMC allocated Rs 749 crore for the construction of a 215-foot-wide road connecting Khajaguda Junction, IIT Junction, and the Cyberabad CP headquarters to Gachibowli. The design calls for the construction of multilevel flyovers, grade separators, and a 150-lane road connecting Anjaiah Nagar to Ranki Tower Road.
Among the tabled issues, the GHMC committee approved the reconstruction of the CC road in Bouddha Nagar, Secunderabad Circle, at a cost of Rs 2.95 crore. The project will involve the reconstruction of box drains on both sides of the road, as well as the construction of an RCC box drain near St. Albans School.
