Christmas Holiday Alert: Telangana Schools To Stay Shut For Three Days

In celebration of Christmas 2024, the Telangana government has announced a three-day holiday for schools statewide.

Educational institutions, including both government and private schools, will remain closed from December 24 to December 26, covering Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.

Last year, there was a five-day Christmas holiday. The government's directive is expected to extend to private colleges and possibly private banks, though official confirmation for the latter is still awaited.

Telangana is known for its vibrant Christmas celebrations, officially organized by the state government. The festival is a time for traditional rituals, such as decorating Christmas trees, attending special prayers, and sharing gifts, particularly with those in need. The three-day break allows families to engage in these activities without the constraints of school schedules.

While December 25 is a national holiday, schools in many other Indian states also align this break with their winter vacations. In North India, states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Punjab, and Haryana often close schools in late December for an extended winter break lasting until mid-January. For districts with varying weather conditions, local authorities decide the vacation schedule to suit their regions.
