Mumbai-Dubai Underwater Train: Will the 2,000 km High-Speed Journey Take Just 2 Hours?
A viral claim about a 2,000-kilometre underwater high-speed rail link connecting Mumbai and Dubai has been making waves across social media and digital platforms. The proposed project, which reportedly envisions a maglev train travelling at speeds of 1,000 km/h beneath the Arabian Sea, has captured public imagination. But how much of it is fact?
According to viral posts and YouTube videos, a 2,000-kilometre underwater train connecting India and the UAE is already in the works. The train is said to use magnetic levitation (maglev) technology and travel nearly 2,300 metres below the sea surface. It also claims that the project will transport oil, fresh water, and passengers between the two nations.

This ambitious plan was first floated years ago by Abdulla Al Shehi, Managing Director of National Advisor Bureau Limited (NABL), a UAE-based private firm. In 2018, the company released a conceptual video suggesting a submerged rail link between Mumbai and Dubai. Recently, this video resurfaced online, sparking renewed interest and widespread speculation.
However, according to a recent report by Khaleej Times, the project is still in the conceptual stage. Al Shehi clarified that it's merely an idea with no formal roadmap, feasibility study, or government-level endorsement from either India or the UAE.
Moreover, no government agency-either in India or the UAE-has issued any official plans, conducted feasibility studies, signed bilateral agreements, or initiated environmental assessments for such a massive infrastructure project.

While the concept is real and publicly discussed, presenting it as an active project under development is misleading. The visuals circulating online are artist impressions and do not represent actual engineering progress. There is no evidence to support the claim that construction has begun or will begin in the near future.
Conclusion:
The Mumbai-Dubai underwater train is a captivating concept, but it currently belongs more to the realm of futuristic imagination than near-future infrastructure. Readers should be cautious and verify such viral claims through credible, official sources.
