Fact Check: Was Rajinikanth's Poes Garden House Affected By Chennai Floods? Know The Truth

Media reports had claimed superstar Rajinikanth's home in Poes Garden in Chennai was flooded due to heavy rains caused by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.

While the torrential downpour affected many celebrities living in the area, the issue was worsened by the city's drainage system, which struggled to cope with the volume of rain, leading to water accumulation around several properties.

Rajini s House Really Affected

However, these reports of Rajinikanth's house being affected by flood is false.

Rajinikanth's spokesperson, Riaz K Ahmed, issued a clarification dismissing the rumors, stating: "Reports circulating about flooding at #Superstar @rajinikanth's residence are false. Everyone is safe and sound."

The city was initially expected to receive only 6.8 mm of rainfall. However, the actual amount was a staggering 143.3 mm-over 20 times the normal level, representing a 2,007 percent increase.

This torrential rain added to Chennai's total rainfall for the month so far, reaching 281.1 mm from October 1 to 10, compared to the normal 82.9 mm-a 239 percent increase. Nearby Tiruvallur district also experienced a massive surge, with rainfall departing 1,907 percent from the normal, with actual rainfall of 116.4 mm against an expected 5.8 mm.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for parts of Tamil Nadu, warning of "very heavy rainfall" on October 17 and 18. This has raised concerns about further flooding and the challenges it poses to the region's infrastructure and the safety of its residents.
