Fact Check: Has Ranveer Singh Cornered BJP Over Unemployment Issue?

A video of Ranveer Singh purportedly criticising the BJP over the unemployment issue has surfaced online.

In the clip, the Bollywood actor is seen making critical comments about the Modi government while urging the people to cast their votes for the Congress.

"The purpose of Modi ji was to celebrate our miserable life and fear, our unemployment and unemployment and we are moving towards the era of injustice. We are growing at a fast pace, but we should never forget to demand development, justice, hence think before casting a vote," he is heard saying in the video.

After he makes the appeal, a voice in the video highlights the importance of voting for justice and advocates voting for the Congress party.

Many users on social media sites are sharing the video. However, it has to be noted that it is a fake video and Singh had not made those comments.

The video has been altered using voice-cloning technology. It's important to note that Singh did not criticize PM Modi during his conversation with ANI in Varanasi.

In the video, it's evident that the actor commended PM Modi for his efforts in Kashi and did not make any appeal for votes for any political party. The tampering is apparent, particularly in the mismatch between the voice-over's lip-syncing and the actor's natural speaking style.

Recently, the Bollywood Aamir Khan actor lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell of Mumbai Police after a similar video seeking votes for the Congress surfaced online.

It has to be noted that Microsoft had warned that China would use artificial intelligence (AI) content to disrupt upcoming Lok Sabha elections in India, as well as elections in countries such as the United States and South Korea.

China will utilize AI-generated content through social media that "benefits their positions in these high-profile elections", the report said. The US-based company stated that it has noticed "several notable cyber and influence trends from China and North Korea since June 2023 that demonstrate not only doubling down on familiar targets but also attempts to use more sophisticated influence techniques to achieve their goals".
