UI Box Office Collection - Day 1: How Did Upendra's Film Perform In Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hyderabad?
Upendra's much-anticipated film UI has debuted with a promising start at the box office despite a late start in advance bookings at multiplexes. Released across multiple languages, the film has made its mark, particularly in Karnataka, with impressive occupancy rates and box office collections on its opening day.
Kannada Version Dominates the Opening Day
The Kannada version of UI came out with flying colours, recording an exceptional overall occupancy of 62.44% on its first day. With over 4,000 shows nationwide, Karnataka contributed significantly to the numbers, as per Sacnik data.

City-wise Kannada Occupancy
Bengaluru: The capital city showcased its love for Upendra, with an overall occupancy of 77.50%. Morning shows began strong at 70%, climbing steadily to reach 95% during night shows across 492 screenings.
Mysuru: Second only to Bengaluru, Mysuru reported an outstanding 89.25% occupancy, peaking at a full house for night shows.
Shivamogga: With an overall occupancy of 79.25%, Shivamogga saw near-packed theatres in the evening and night shows.
Raichur: A standout performer with a staggering 98.25% overall occupancy, the region saw near-total turnout throughout the day.
Other cities like Tumakuru (89.25%) and Kundapura (65.50%) also contributed significantly to the success of the opening day. However, regions like Mangaluru (23.25%) and Belagavi (38.25%) recorded relatively low occupancy rates, the data said.
UI At Andhra/Telangana Box Office
The Telugu version of Upendra-starrer witnessed a moderate opening with an overall occupancy of 38.32%. Hyderabad led the charge with 44.75% occupancy, peaking at 65% during the night shows. Other notable regions included Warangal (52.25%) and Vizag (37.00%).
Limited Traction in Tamil and Hindi Markets
The Tamil version registered a mere 7.39% overall occupancy, while the Hindi version fared slightly better at 8.74%. These numbers reflect the movie's limited appeal outside its core Kannada and Telugu audiences.
How Much Did UI Collect On Opening Day?
According to early estimates, UI raked in approximately Rs 6.75 crore net across India on its opening day for all languages combined. The strong turnout in Karnataka played a pivotal role in achieving this figure.
The Kannada version of the movie is estimated to have earned a little over Rs 6 crore. The Telugu version has raked in around Rs 70 lakh and the remaining amount from the Tamil and Hindi versions.
Despite its box office performance, UI has opened to mixed reviews from audiences. While fans have lauded Upendra's performance and the movie's concept, critics have pointed out shortcomings in the screenplay and pacing.
The opening day figures indicate a promising start for UI, particularly in its home market of Karnataka. With the weekend ahead, the film has the potential to build on its initial momentum and deliver a strong performance at the box office. However, sustaining this momentum in non-Kannada markets might prove challenging given the lukewarm response so far.
