Adult film star Sophia Leone has become the fourth celebrity from the adult film industry in 2024 after after Kagney Linn Karter, Jesse Jane, and Thaina Fields.

The news of her death was announced by her stepfather Mike Romero said on Saturday. The 26-year-old actress found "unresponsive" in her apartment on March 1.

Seeking funds for her memorial on GoFundMe, he said, "On behalf of her mother and family, it is with a heavy heart that I have to share the news of our beloved Sophia's passing. The sudden loss of Sophia has left her family and friends devastated and in shock. On top of the difficult process of grieving and seeking justice for Sophia, the family is also facing the financial burden that they were not prepared for."

Her agency 101 Modelling announced the news of her death. In a post on X, it said, "Our hearts are broken by the untimely and tragic passing of our beloved Sophia Leone. A beautiful spirit who touched many of us. RIP sweet angel and know how much we loved you. A GoFundMe has been started for her family."

However, the cause of her death is yet to be known even as the authorities are investigating the case.

As many express their shock over he death, there were speculations on social media that Sophia Leone was a sister of Sunny Leone. Many netizens felt that she was linked to Indian-born former adult actress Sunny Leone who has quit adult industry after finding feet in Bollywood.

One user said,"Sophia leone Sunny Leone ki behen hai kyaa?" Another netizen commented, "I dnt know either. Sunny Leone will be able to answer your question as to what's going on.. is this Sophia Leone related to Sunny Leone or she got inspired by Sunny Leone & rebranded her Sophia Leone??"

The confusion was mainly because of the second name 'Leone'. However, the truth is they are not linked in any way.

As per IMDB, her other names are: Gianna Chanel and Bianca. Whereas Sunny Leone's real name is Karenjit Kaur. While the former is from Mexico.

Possibly, Sophia adopted Leone as her second name to cash in on Sunny Leone's popularity. The only connection between then is their similar last names and shared profession, but they are not known to be relatives.
