Sitaare Zameen Par OTT Release: Digital Rights War Heats Up Despite Aamir’s Resistance
Aamir Khan has firmly declined the OTT release of his latest film, "Sitaare Zameen Par." Despite this, there is a fierce competition for its digital rights. If the film eventually streams online, it could potentially be available on platforms like Jio Hotstar or Netflix. Both platforms already host Aamir's previous work, "Taare Zameen Par," making them likely candidates for the sequel.
Before its release, Aamir Khan clarified in numerous media interviews that he would not bring "Sitaare Zameen Par" to OTT platforms. He has not made any deals with digital platforms for an online release and has rejected offers that came his way. Aamir believes that the true essence of cinema lies in theatres, which is why he prefers theatrical releases over digital ones.

Box Office Success
"Sitaare Zameen Par" has been a commercial triumph since its theatrical debut. In just 17 days, the film has grossed nearly ₹150 crore at the Indian box office. Its worldwide earnings have surpassed ₹225 crore, marking it as a hit for Aamir Khan. The movie's captivating storyline has resonated well with audiences globally.
The speculation around its potential OTT release continues to grow despite Aamir's stance. Jio Hotstar and Netflix are reportedly interested in acquiring the film's digital rights due to their existing relationship with Aamir's previous projects. However, no official confirmation regarding these speculations has been made by Jagran.
Digital Rights Race
The race for securing the digital rights of "Sitaare Zameen Par" remains intense. Although Aamir Khan is known for his love of theatres and has expressed reluctance towards OTT releases, industry insiders believe that platforms like Jio Hotstar and Netflix might still pursue negotiations for streaming rights.
Aamir Khan's decision reflects his belief in preserving the cinematic experience through theatre viewings. He considers theatres as the true home of cinema and remains committed to this traditional format despite the growing popularity of OTT platforms.
The film's success at the box office underscores its appeal among audiences. With impressive earnings both domestically and internationally, "Sitaare Zameen Par" continues to captivate viewers with its engaging narrative and stellar performances by Aamir Khan and Genelia D'Souza.
