Orhan Awatramani Summoned By Mumbai Police In ₹252 Crore Drugs Case

Orhan Awatramani, a well-known Bollywood socialite and influencer, often referred to as Orry, has been summoned by the Mumbai Police. This is in connection with a ₹252 crore drugs case, according to news agency ANI. The police have asked him to appear for questioning at the Anti-Narcotics Cell's Ghatkopar unit on Thursday at 10 AM.

The investigation into this case began in March 2024 when Mumbai Police discovered a mephedrone-manufacturing facility on a farm in Maharashtra's Sangli. Officers seized 126.14 kg of mephedrone (MD), valued at around ₹252 crore, as reported by Hindustan Times. It is believed that wanted narcotics trafficker Salim Dola and his son Taher were behind the operation, with raw materials sourced through an associate in Surat.

Network Unveiled

As the probe widened, authorities found that the Sangli unit was part of a larger network. The drugs were reportedly transported using luxury cars like Mercedes and BMWs to avoid detection. The earnings from these operations were allegedly moved abroad through hawala channels. The network began to unravel following the arrest of a Nagpada resident in August 2022, leading to further arrests and eventually the factory raid in March 2024.

Orry's name emerged during the investigation after the deportation and arrest of Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh, an alleged drug trafficker linked to fugitive gangster Salim Dola. Shaikh was returning from Dubai on November 5 when he was detained and reportedly made significant revelations during questioning.

Celebrity Connections

During interrogation, Shaikh claimed he organised raves for Bollywood and fashion celebrities. These claims are still under verification as the investigation is ongoing. In its remand plea, the anti-narcotics agency informed a Mumbai court that Shaikh had hosted lavish parties in Dubai and Mumbai attended by celebrities such as actors Nora Fatehi and Shraddha Kapoor, filmmakers Abbas-Mustan, influencer Orry, rapper Loka, and politician Zeeshan Siddique.

An Anti-Narcotics Cell officer stated that Orry has been summoned to clarify his involvement concerning Shaikh's statements. "We will decide on questioning other celebrities after speaking to him," added the officer.

Previous Legal Troubles

This isn't Orry's first brush with legal issues. Previously, he was named among several individuals in a first information report (FIR) for allegedly consuming alcohol at a hotel near the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra. According to ANI, the Jammu and Kashmir Police lodged an FIR on March 15 against Orhan Awatramani (ORRY) and others for consuming alcohol despite it being prohibited at such a sacred place.

The police continue their investigation into this high-profile drugs case involving Orry and other notable figures from Bollywood and beyond. As more details emerge, authorities are expected to take further actions based on their findings.
