Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Panna Momaya stated that eyewitnesses believe Chaurasia was intoxicated at the time. Moments after emerging from the wrecked car, he was heard repeatedly shouting, "Another round, another round."

CCTV footage captured the horrific crash, showing the vehicle plowing into scooters before coming to a halt. A bystander's video recorded the chaotic aftermath, where Chaurasia, appearing disoriented, was confronted by enraged onlookers. His friend, Mit Chauhan, who was in the passenger seat, was seen blaming him for the accident. Chaurasia was later beaten by bystanders before being handed over to the police.

Originally from Varanasi, Chaurasia was residing in Vadodara in a paying guest accommodation. The car belonged to his friend Chauhan. Following his arrest, police launched an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the crash.
