Idli Kadai (Idly Kadai) 2nd Day Box Office Collection: Dhanush’s Film Holds Well Despite Kantara Storm

Dhanush's Idli Kadai is holding its ground at the box office despite the storm created by Kantara 2. After a strong opening day on Wednesday with ₹11 crore, the film showed a steady trend on Thursday, collecting close to ₹10 crore, taking its two-day total to around ₹21 crore in India.

On its second day, Idli Kadai registered an overall Tamil occupancy of 59.87%, which is a fairly good hold considering the direct clash with Kantara 2, one of the most anticipated films of the year. The film started slow with morning shows drawing just under 35% occupancy but picked up strongly by afternoon (70.02%), sustaining well into the evening (69.21%) and night shows (65.26%), as per Sacnilk data.

Chennai continues to be the backbone for Idli Kadai. The city recorded an impressive 71.5% occupancy across 582 shows, with evening and night shows nearing the 80% mark. Coimbatore too mirrored this strong trend, clocking over 60% occupancy for the day, while Pondicherry stayed stable at 61%. Trichy stood out as a surprise performer with the highest figures across Tamil Nadu, averaging a robust 76.25% occupancy with evening and night shows packed above 80%.

Other centers like Madurai (48%) and Salem (53.5%) performed decently, while smaller markets like Vellore and Dindigul showed steady support with around 55-60% occupancy. However, the film couldn't make much impact in Kerala. Trivandrum (14.75%) and Kochi (23.25%) recorded very low numbers, indicating that the film is struggling outside its Tamil strongholds.

In contrast, the response in select non-Tamil cities has been encouraging. Mumbai clocked 63% overall occupancy, boosted by a stellar evening run at 86%. The NCR circuit also showed promise with 57.5% occupancy, though the night shows dipped after a very strong afternoon. Bengaluru, despite being dominated by Kantara 2, maintained nearly 50% occupancy across 229 shows-better than expected for a Tamil film on a packed weekend.

Overall, Idli Kadai has managed to stand firm and deliver consistent numbers on its second day. While Kantara 2 is dominating headlines, Dhanush's star power and strong audience connect in Tamil Nadu are ensuring that Idli Kadai does not get completely overshadowed. If it maintains this momentum through the weekend, the film could emerge as a solid box office success even in a highly competitive release window.
