Mumbai Police's Anti Narcotics Cell summoned social media figure Orhan Awatramani, known as Orry, in a drug syndicate investigation linked to the Dawood Ibrahim network, following disclosures by a recently deported trafficker, Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh, who named numerous celebrities and political figures, including Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor, and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique, as attendees of alleged high-profile parties in Mumbai and Dubai.

Claims Surface During Trafficker's Interrogation

According to details reported by HT, the disclosures came from Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh, who was brought back from the UAE and questioned by the crime branch. During his interrogation, Shaikh described a series of extravagant gatherings in Mumbai and Dubai, allegedly attended by Bollywood A listers, other well known film personalities and political figures. HT noted that Shaikh had worked closely with fugitive drug operator Salim Dola, a significant member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang.

In a remand submission before a metropolitan magistrate in Mumbai, the ANC stated that Shaikh claimed to have organised multiple high profile parties for celebrities in both cities.

Celebrities and Political Names Mentioned in Statement

Shaikh told investigators that the participants included the son of Dawood's late sister Haseena Parkar, Orry, actors Nora Fatehi and Shraddha Kapoor, her brother Siddharth Kapoor, filmmakers Abbas Mustan, rapper Loka and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique. These details were part of the remand application, which HT reviewed as a third party source.

An ANC officer told HT that the claims remain unverified because the inquiry is still in its early phase. "We will question Orry about the claims made by Shaikh... We will decide whether to question other celebrities and political leaders mentioned by Shaikh after we question Orry," the officer told HT.

Orry's representative appeared before the ANC on Thursday, informing officers that Orry was currently out of the city and would be available after November 25. The police will fix a date for questioning and communicate it to him, another officer told HT.

Earlier Arrests and Drug Network Trail

The case goes back to August 2022 when the Mumbai crime branch and the Ghatkopar ANC arrested Mohammad Shahrukh Mohammad Shafi Shaikh from Nagpada and recovered mephedrone worth ₹1.19 lakh. More peddlers were arrested in the following months, expanding the investigation.

In a key development in March 2024, officers uncovered a mephedrone production setup in Sangli district. HT reported that the facility was believed to be operated by wanted trafficker and Dawood associate Salim Dola along with his son Tahe, who had been deported from the UAE and arrested by Mumbai Police in June. His relative Mustaffa Mohammad Khubbawala faced deportation the next month.

Syndicate's Alleged Operations Under Scrutiny

HT further reported that after his deportation and arrest on November 5, Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh admitted to establishing multiple drug manufacturing locations and managing a distribution chain that supplied cocaine, MDMA tablets, hashish, charas and mephedrone.

The crime branch continues to verify each claim as investigators piece together the alleged network and plan further summons.
