Diljit Dosanjh Ceases Concerts In India Over Live Show Infrastructure Problems

Popular singer Diljit Dosanjh has declared he will stop performing concerts in India. This decision follows his complaints about inadequate infrastructure for live shows. The announcement was made during his performance in Chandigarh on December 14, with several videos of the event circulating on social media.

During the Chandigarh concert, Diljit expressed his concerns in Punjabi, stating, "We don't have the proper infrastructure for live shows here. This is a significant source of revenue, and many people rely on it for work. I'll try next time to ensure the stage is in the center so you can all gather around it. Until then, I won't be doing shows in India, that's certain."

Concert Dedication and Controversy

On Saturday, Diljit dedicated his Dil-Luminati concert to Gukesh Dommaraju, India's newly-crowned FIDE World Chess Champion. He praised Gukesh's dedication and hard work from a young age in achieving his dreams. However, Diljit faced backlash after spelling Punjab as "Panjab" in a post about his Chandigarh concert. Many social media users noted that this spelling is often linked to the Pakistani side of the region.

Additionally, fans observed that Diljit did not include the Indian tricolour emoji in this particular post, unlike his other concert-related tweets. This omission led to further criticism from some followers.

Upcoming Performances

Professionally, Diljit is nearing the end of his Dil-Luminati India tour. A performance is scheduled in Mumbai on December 19. The tour will conclude with a grand concert in Guwahati on December 29.
