Bigg Boss 18 Faces Backlash: Donkey Max Removed After PETA and PFA Intervention

Max, the donkey also known as Gadharaj, has become the first contestant eliminated from Bigg Boss 18. His departure from the reality show came after appeals from animal welfare organizations directed at the producers. Earlier, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) called on Salman Khan and the show's creators to remove the donkey, citing concerns about public distress.

In a statement shared on social media, People For Animals (PFA) expressed gratitude to Smt Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Chairperson of PFA, for her intervention in the matter. The organization noted, "This success was made possible through the collective efforts of everyone in the community who stood up for the donkey's release."

The statement continued, "We are pleased to announce that the Bigg Boss team has informed us of the donkey's release. This achievement is a direct result of the combined efforts of all who supported and joined the cause. Thank you for standing with us and demonstrating that compassion and action can make a real difference."

On October 9, PETA India sent a letter requesting Salman Khan to urge the producers to refrain from using animals as props for entertainment. The letter stated, "This would not only alleviate stress for the animals and prevent viewer upset but also set a powerful precedent. We also encourage Advocate Gunaratna Sadavarte, who reportedly brought Max into the house, to surrender the donkey to PETA India for rehoming in a sanctuary with other rescued donkeys. Such a move would undoubtedly win Advocate Sadavarte fans."
