What Is The Timing To Burst Crackers In Chennai & Tamil Nadu During Deepavali Festival?
Ahead of the Deepavali festival, the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) has released detailed instructions aimed at minimizing the environmental and health repercussions of firecracker pollution.
The advisory strongly recommends the community to opt for green crackers, known for their lower pollution levels and reduced noise output, to mitigate the adverse effects of traditional firecrackers. It also encourages the organization of group firecracker events in communal spaces, provided there is approval from local authorities and housing associations. This initiative aims to limit the environmental footprint of Deepavali celebrations while still preserving the festive spirit.

Moreover, the advisory also advises against setting off fireworks near locations where the potential for disturbance or harm is high, such as hospitals, schools, courts, religious sites, and areas prone to fire hazards. By adhering to these guidelines, individuals can contribute to a safer, more environmentally friendly Deepavali celebration.
Timings To Burst Crackers In Chennai and Across Tamil Nadu
These guidelines outline specific time frames for setting off firecrackers, which are from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., to keep noise and pollution levels under control during the festival. The TNPCB is working alongside various government bodies to spread awareness about using fireworks responsibly to ensure public health and environmental safety.
In addition to these preventive measures, the advisory emphasizes the importance of celebrating in a manner that is considerate of sensitive areas. By avoiding the bursting of crackers near vulnerable sites and opting for community displays, the TNPCB hopes to foster a safer environment for all. The collaboration between the TNPCB and various government departments underscores a concerted effort to educate and encourage safer practices among the public during the festival.
