Tourists Banned In Hogenakkal Falls As Water Level In Cauvery Rises
Tourist entry to Hogenakkal Falls has been banned due to a sharp rise in the water level of the Cauvery River following heavy rainfall in the region, as reported by PTI.
Last week, the inflow at Hogenakkal exceeded 19,000 cusecs, with the Biligundulu reservoir, located along the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border in Krishnagiri district, seeing a rise in inflow from 14,000 cusecs on October 16.

Although there has been fluctuating inflow in recent days, the water level surged again a day later. In the second week of October , the inflow into the Cauvery stood at 17,000 cusecs on Tuesday but dropped to 14,000 cusecs on October 16, despite continued heavy rainfall in Karnataka.
Hogenakkal Falls, a popular tourist destination, is located on the Cauvery River at the border of Tamil Nadu's Dharmapuri district and Karnataka's Chamrajnagar district. The falls are situated 46 km from Dharmapuri and 199 km from Chamrajnagar.
