Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Madurai Scorches At 40.3°C As Chennai Records Fifth Hottest September Day

Parts of Tamil Nadu witnessed soaring temperatures on Monday, with Madurai recording the highest among them. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Madurai Airport registered a maximum temperature of 40.3°C, leading the list of hot spots in the state.

Other regions also saw significant heat, with Palayamkottai, Parangipettai, and Karur all recording temperatures of 38°C or more. Notably, Chennai experienced a particularly hot day, reaching 38.4°C, while Erode and Thanjavur recorded 39°C, and Nagapattinam reported 39.1°C.

Weather blogger and interpreter, R Pradeep John, who shares regular updates under the name "Tamil Nadu Weatherman," highlighted that Chennai experienced its fifth hottest September day on record with a temperature of 38.2°C. He shared this in a post, stating:

"Chennai city records its 5th hottest September day ever at 38.2°C:

• 38.9°C - 19.09.1883
• 38.7°C - 26.09.2009
• 38.5°C - 08.09.1997
• 38.4°C - 14.09.1968
• 38.2°C - 16.09.2024"

According to the RMC, Chennai's sky condition is expected to be partly cloudy with a possibility of light rain in some areas. The forecast predicts maximum temperatures between 38-39°C and minimum temperatures hovering around 28-29°C.

In his post, Pradeep John further warned that the heatwave is far from over, predicting more record-breaking hot days ahead. He noted, "Another record-breaking hot day ahead for Chennai, with temperatures likely to exceed 38°C again. Madurai, which has already broken its all-time record, will see another scorching day with temperatures above 40°C."

As temperatures continue to rise, residents in Tamil Nadu are advised to stay cautious and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during peak hours.
