Tamil Nadu Holiday On September 11: Schools, Colleges To Remain Closed On Thursday

Well, the educational institutions in some districts will remain closed on the occasion of Martyr Emanuel Sekaran's Commemoration Day. Schools and colleges in Ramanathapuram and Siva Ganga will remain closed on Thursday, according to a report in News18.

District Collector K. Porkodi has declared a holiday for educational institutions to mark the 68th Commemoration Day of Martyr Emanuel Sekaran. This event will take place in Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram district.

School Holiday Announcement

A press release from the Collector's office confirmed that September 11, 2025, will be a public holiday for all educational institutions in specific taluks of Sivagangai district. These include Sivagangai, Thiruppuvanam, Manamadurai, and Ilayangudi. The holiday aims to maintain public order and consider student welfare during the commemoration events.

It has to be noted that there is no state-wide holiday for schools in Tamil Nadu on the occasion of Immanuel Sekaran's memorial day. The local holidays are often declared for schools and colleges in specific districts where the memorial events are held and large crowds are expected. This is done for security reasons and to manage potential law and order issues.

However, to compensate for this day off, schools and colleges will remain open on September 20, 2025. This adjustment ensures that academic schedules remain unaffected while allowing students to participate in the commemoration peacefully.

Quarterly Exam Schedule

The Department of School Education has outlined the exam schedule for Tamil Nadu's current academic session. Students from classes 1 to 3 will have their exams from September 22 to 25. Meanwhile, those in classes 4 and 5 will sit their exams between September 17 and 29, 2025.

For older students in classes 6 to 10, exams are set to begin on September 15 and conclude by September 26. Class 11 and Class 12 students will face their exams from September 10 to September 25, ensuring a comprehensive assessment period for all grades.
