The special buses will be dispatched from Chennai and other major points to various destinations across Tamil Nadu and neighboring states.

From Kilambakkam Bus Terminal in Chennai, a substantial fleet of 520 special buses will operate on Friday, June 6. These buses will connect passengers to key cities including Tiruvannamalai, Trichy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Nagercoil, Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, and Tiruppur. On Saturday, an additional 550 buses will serve these same routes from Kilambakkam.
Likewise, the Koyambedu Bus Terminal in Chennai will see 100 special buses on Friday bound for popular destinations like Hosur, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Tiruvannamalai, and Bengaluru. On Saturday, 90 more special buses will operate from Koyambedu to these locations.
Madhavaram Bus Terminal in North Chennai will also see 24 special buses each on Friday and Saturday, connecting to several districts. Meanwhile, buses from Bengaluru, Erode, Tirupur, and Coimbatore will enhance connectivity to various destinations within Tamil Nadu.
Apart from these, special return services will be arranged on Sunday to facilitate passengers travelling back to Chennai and Bengaluru from their hometowns.
The Festival
Bakrid, also known as Eid-ul-Adha, is one of the most significant festivals in Islam. It is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar, with celebrations extending over the following three days, known as Tashreeq days.
This year, the crescent moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia on May 27, 2025, setting Bakrid there for June 6. In India, where moon sighting usually occurs a day later, Bakrid will be celebrated on June 7. Consequently, Arafat Day will be marked on June 6. This day holds great spiritual significance as it commemorates the final sermon of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
