Pudhumai Penn Scheme – A Gateway To Progress Girl Students From Poor Families
One of the popular schemes of the Dravidian model government is the Pudhumai Penn scheme, a classic scheme introduced to imply the significance of education. CM Stalin introduced the scheme to reduce the burden of education of girl children from poverty ridden families. In the past one year alone, the scheme was beneficial to thousands of girls in providing opportunities for higher education.
Karthiga from Tiruvannamalai, one of the beneficiaries of the scheme is residing in Chennai and pursuing the discipline of Nursing. Her family is not financially sound to support her higher education. CM Stalin's Pudhumai Penn scheme resolved her dilemma about pursuing higher education considering the expenses. Karthiga fulfilled the eligibility criteria, requiring the applicant to have completed 6th to 12th in government school.

Under the scheme, Karthiga received Rs.1000 as scholarship for higher education. "With the money received under the Pudhumai Penn scheme, I was able to pursue higher studies. My sincere thanks to CM Stalin for introducing a scheme which helps especially girl children from poverty-ridden families to achieve their dreams", said Karthiga.
Another beneficiary of the scheme said, "Opportunities for higher education come a lot but joining the college and finishing it is a tedious process owing to a lot of expenses. Fortunately, financial assistance under CM Stalin's Pudhumai Penn scheme has helped a lot in covering my travel expenses which was a heavy burden to me."

Saathiya Dabasam from Islam background is a beneficiary of the scheme and is studying nursing discipline in Kilpauk Government Medical College. Her father is a driver and mother, a homemaker. The couple has three daughters and all of them studied in government school. One of them is Saathiya Dabasam who joined the nursing course through an opportunity given by the government.
"CM Stalin's Pudhumai Penn scheme rectified the difficult situation of my family and covered the expenses of my higher education. Since the government aid covers my expenses, my father can take care of my younger sister's education expenses in the future", said the beneficiary from Islam background.

Another beneficiary of the scheme is Rajarajeshwari, whose family belongs to below poverty line. Her family situation forced her to work part-time and study at the same time. "Rs. 1000 given by the government is useful for purchasing my books and notebooks etc. It gives me immense joy that my financial problems are finally over", said Rajarajeshwari.

One more beneficiary of the scheme Chitra is studying in 3rd year and handling the education expenses using a scholarship provided under the Pudhumai Penn scheme. After her father's demise, Chitra's mother did domestic work to support the family. "With the money given under the scheme, I have saved Rs.5000", said Chitra proudly.
Another beneficiary is Kaviya from Viluppuram who is pursuing nursing course in Chennai. Kaviya has 3 sisters and their family is one of the families that got seriously affected during the Corona period. According to Kaviya, the money came when their family was in a very difficult situation and it helped her to pursue her studies despite her family's bad financial situation.

Finally a student from Tindivanam said that her travel from Tindivanam to Chennai for studying was not affordable to her family. Owing to the situation of the family, she decided to drop her studies but the Pudhumai Penn scheme came at the right time and saved her studies. She said that she is buying even her clothes for college with the money given by the government.

All the stories are heart-warming and show the difference made by the Pudhumai Penn scheme. CM Stalin has sublimated all the sorrows and burdens of many families through the scheme. The Dravidian model government once again gave importance to education, after all education is the key to everything.
Pudhumai Penn scheme will stand tall in the times to come.
