Parked Vehicles On Chennai Flyovers Can Return Home As Extreme Rains Recede: TN Weatherman
Flyovers have become a lot of parking for car owners in Chennai in the last few days as heavy rains have lashed the Tamil Nadu capital.
In a bid to avoid flooding, the car owners in low-lying areas in Velachery had parked their vehicles on the Pallikaranai flyover. However, flyover parking is no longer needed as the extreme rains are predicted to recede today, weather blogger R Pradeep John (PJ) said in a post.

"Some good news for KTCC (Chennai) - Steady rains to continue for a while
--------------------
Though the Depression is expected to cross over Chennai, the convergence of winds will be north of the crossing area so people of Chennai can relax a bit. The extreme rains today from the main Depression is not going happen for us. Normal rains may happen !! As we can see the convergence has shifted to south Andhra.
There might be some pull effect rains from Depression once it moves in land on 18-20 in Chennai those will be normal manageable rains So Parked vehicle in flyovers can be brought home !!! Massive rainfall numbers are recorded in Chennai and Tiruvallur district. in the last 2 days the rainfall recorded was close to 300 mm in Chennai in some places."
The intermittent rains in the KTCC (Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu) have impacted daily lives with schools, colleges and government offices beginning declared holidays.
However, the Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a red alert to Chennai and suburbs for today. In its daily bulletin, the weather agency said, "Heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rain at one or two places is likely to occur over Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu and Chennai districts."
It has also stated that Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Vellore districts, Puducherry and Karaikal area will also get heavy rains today.
