Chennai-Tirunelveli Vande Bharat: More Coaches Added
The Indian Railways has decided to increase the number of coaches on the Vande Bharat train connecting Chennai and Tirunelveli via Madurai. This decision comes in response to rising demand. The train will now have 16 coaches instead of eight, significantly increasing passenger capacity from 530 to 1,228 per trip.
Expansion and Safety Measures
Southern Railway is undertaking necessary expansion and safety checks to accommodate this change. The standard configuration for Vande Bharat trains is 16 coaches. However, some routes in North India have already expanded to 20 coaches due to even higher demand.

The move aims to enhance travel convenience for passengers on this route. Increasing the number of coaches aligns with efforts to meet growing passenger needs efficiently. This adjustment reflects a broader strategy by Indian Railways to adapt services based on regional demand patterns.
By doubling the coach count, the railways are not only addressing current demand but also preparing for future increases in passenger numbers. This proactive approach ensures that infrastructure keeps pace with usage trends, providing a smoother travel experience.
The Vande Bharat Express has gained popularity for its speed and comfort, making it a preferred choice for many travelers. The expansion of coach numbers is expected to further boost its appeal among commuters seeking efficient travel options between major cities in Tamil Nadu.
This initiative underscores the commitment of Indian Railways to continuously improve service quality and capacity across its network. By responding swiftly to passenger needs, they aim to maintain high standards of service delivery while accommodating more travelers comfortably.
As Southern Railway implements these changes, passengers can look forward to enhanced travel experiences on the Chennai-Tirunelveli route. The increased capacity will likely reduce wait times and improve overall accessibility for those relying on this vital transportation link.
