Chennai Floods Affect Rajinikanth’s Poes Garden House As Tamil Nadu Capital Battles Severe Rains
Chennai has been grappling with severe rainfall, leading to widespread waterlogging and flooding in many areas, including the upscale Poes Garden locality. Here, the renowned actor Rajinikanth's grand villa found itself swamped by rainwater, according to a report in Deccan Herald.
The heavy downpour not only impacted Rajinikanth but also affected numerous other celebrities residing in the vicinity. The situation has been exacerbated by the city's drainage system, which could not withstand the torrential rains, causing water to accumulate around properties.

Despite this, there have been concerted efforts to mitigate the situation, with emergency measures being put in place to drain the water from the affected areas.
The inundation of Rajinikanth's villa in Poes Garden was captured in various visuals circulating on social media. These images starkly depict the extent of the flooding, emphasizing the severity of the rain's impact on the region. Poes Garden, known for its high-profile inhabitants including celebrities, industrialists, and lawyers, found itself under siege by the relentless rainfall that has overwhelmed Chennai.
The Tamil Nadu government, in response to the continuous downpour, declared a holiday for schools and colleges in several districts, including Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, and Chengelpet. This decision was made in light of the forecast for "isolated extremely heavy rainfall" on October 16, as per the chief minister's office, which underscored the gravity of the situation.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for parts of Tamil Nadu, warning of "very heavy rainfall" on October 17 and 18. This has raised concerns about further flooding and the challenges it poses to the region's infrastructure and the safety of its residents.
Rajinikanth, although known for his outspoken views on public issues, has not made any public statements regarding the flooding of his residence. Nonetheless, reports indicate that he and his staff are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of his household and minimize any potential damage.
The city's response to the crisis has included efforts by civic authorities to pump out water from affected areas, including around Rajinikanth's villa. Staff members at his residence are reportedly closely monitoring the situation to prevent any significant damage.
In conclusion, Chennai's struggle with the recent heavy rainfall has brought to light the vulnerability of even the most exclusive areas like Poes Garden. The inundation of Rajinikanth's villa serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by the city and its residents during such extreme weather events. With emergency measures in place and the authorities on high alert, the focus remains on overcoming the immediate challenges and preparing for the forecasted heavy rains.
