Yellow And Blue Line Namma Metro Expansion Take Center Stage During Karnataka Budget Session 2024
The Karnataka Budget Session 2024 kicked off on Monday, February 12, with Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot delivering the opening speech. The session, which spans from February 12 to February 23, will witness crucial discussions and presentations regarding the state's financial agenda and legislative priorities.
The recent commencement of the Karnataka Budget Session brought exciting news on the infrastructure front. From the much-anticipated Electronics City Metro to the crucial Blue Line extension connecting the city to the airport, there's a lot to look forward to in the coming years.

Yellow Line Namma Metro connecting Bommasandra to Silk Board:
Commuters rejoice! The wait for the Yellow Line connecting Electronics City located in South Bengaluru, a major IT hub, to the rest of the city is almost over. By July 2024, the Yellow Line of Namma Metro from R V Road to Bommasandra (19 km) with 16 stations, including crucial junctions like Silk Board and HSR Layout, will be operational. This promises to significantly reduce travel time for IT professionals, ease traffic congestion on Hosur Road, and further boost economic activity in the region.
Central Silk Board - KR Puram - KIA Metro (Blue Line Extension):
Planning a trip to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA)? Great news! The Blue Line is gearing up for an extension, with completion expected by June 2026. This 26.1 km stretch boasts 10 stations, including major junctions like KR Puram and KIA itself. Imagine the convenience of hopping onto the metro directly from the city center and reaching the airport hassle-free! This project not only improves airport accessibility but also promises to reduce traffic congestion on Outer Ring Road and Bellary Road, promoting tourism and business travel.
1,150 New Buses Hit the Road:
Public transport just got a major upgrade! Over the past eight months, the state has inducted a whopping 1,150 new buses, including electric, standard diesel, and midi buses. These are strategically deployed across various cities and towns, aiming to improve connectivity in both urban and rural areas. Expect reduced overcrowding, improved travel convenience, and hopefully, more people opting for public transport, leading to a greener and less congested Karnataka.
