Woman’s Body Found in Trolley Bag Near Bengaluru Railway Bridge, Probe Launched

A gruesome discovery near the old Chandapura railway bridge on the outskirts of Bengaluru has prompted a police investigation. A torn blue trolley bag, spotted by passersby on Wednesday, was found to contain the body of a young woman.

The bag was lying several metres away from the railway bridge near Anekal in the Bengaluru Rural district. Locals alerted the authorities, and police teams rushed to the spot.

"Prima facie, she appears to be around 18 years old. We suspect the suitcase was thrown from a moving train," said Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru Rural) CK Baba. "Though such cases usually fall under the jurisdiction of the railway police, we are also involved since the bag was found in our area."

No identification documents or personal belongings were recovered from the suitcase. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and a case has been registered.

Police are yet to determine the identity of the deceased or the motive behind the suspected murder. They are also examining whether the crime occurred on the train or elsewhere before the body was disposed of.

This incident draws eerie parallels to a case reported in March this year, when 32-year-old Gauri Anil Sambekar was found murdered and stuffed in a suitcase at a home in Bengaluru's Hulimavu area. Her husband was later arrested from Pune after allegedly confessing the crime to her parents.

Investigation in the current case is ongoing. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that may help identify the woman.
